COMING ATTRACTIONS

FALL 2012

Race

by David Mamet
directed by Colleen Bracken and Marc C. Johnson

Two law partners, one black and one white, find themselves defending a wealthy white executive charged with raping a young black woman. When a new, female, legal assistant gets involved in the case, individual opinions and prejudices that have been boiling beneath the surface explode into words. Dangerous truths are spoken, and no punches are spared in this provocative, intriguing, controversial, and brutally honest play. ItŐs a play that will long be remembered and discussed. ItŐs a play by a contemporary American playwright known for his masterful use of language. ItŐs a play about race.

Performances: Fridays and Saturdays, November 9 to 24, at 8:00 P.M.

SPRING 2013

DonŐt Talk to the Actors

by Tom Dudzick
directed by Wayne Snover

Fledgling playwright Jerry Przpazniak and his fiance Arlene Wyniarski are a couple of innocents who are suddenly swept up in the whirlwind of the New York theatre scene when one of JerryŐs plays is optioned for a Broadway production. ItŐs a young authorŐs dream. Or is it his nightmare? Everyone involved knows exactly what the play needs in order to make it a hit. The lead actor wants his lines rewritten. The lead actress would be more comfortable with more jokes, and maybe a song. If only Jerry had listened when the director said, ŇdonŐt talk to the actors.Ó

Performances: Fridays and Saturdays, March 1 to 16, at 8:00 P.M.

Directing Proposals Welcome

The Drama Group welcomes proposals from potential directors at any time of the year. We are especially interested in plays that have not been widely produced in the Philadelphia area. Comedies are especially welcome, although all suggestions will be considered. Submissions must include play title(s), authorŐs name, publisher, a brief synopsis, cast breakdown, and specific set, costume and technical requirements. Include a resume of directing or other theatrical credits. Email info@thedramagroup.org. Do NOT send play scripts. The Drama Group is a volunteer theatre company, however, directors receive a small stipend at the end of the run. Please review the list of our past productions before submitting a proposal.
